A New Hair Do

Here at the Stegall Manor, we let the boys hair get a bit unruly at times. I finally decided it was time to get them a new do.
The pre-cut locks.
Cason being a trooper and sitting still. A true miracle, trust me!
On the other hand, Nolen wasn't so still. He did NOT like the water being sprayed on him! Luckily, the stylist was a pro at distracting and quick cutting.
The sucker was the key.  I even had the pleasure of wearing some of it <see the pants>.
Here is the new, clean-cut Cason. His hair cut makes him looks so grown up! I am not sure I like that :(
Nolen looks too cute for words sporting his new do and his daddy's shoes. I am not sure what I am going to do without being able to run my fingers through his hair.
Though it was a bit of a traumatic experience for some, it was fun. I am happy to boast about my clean cut boys.  I wonder what is in store for us next!!

Sisters and Blue Eyes

Recently, I was on a scrapbooking kick and got several layouts done. I think scrapping is a bit like writing, you hit a block every now and then. Sometimes I will go to the craft room (what used to be our dining room!) and just stare at a photo for an hour. Then, after killing another hour looking through my tear sheets or Pinterest I still draw a blank. I 'm here to tell you it is SO frustrating! However, when you get on a roll you can whip out pages in no time!
Here is some of my handy work. I hope you enjoy!

Photo Display Pinspiration

Around the Stegall Manor photo display is at a minimum at best! I love photos and having the out to be seen. I love to see how we have changed and grown. Remembering times gone by brings me joy. Since I am looking for new, cute ways to show off my pictures I thought I would share what I found with you guys.

Pinned Image
I love the natural element of the tree branch and the large mat frames.

Pinned Image
My sons love to look at pictures and point out people. This is a great way to display a whole bunch of pictures at once. I like to softness of the pictures- not too distracting.

Pinned Image
I'm not sure if I like all the stars/snowflakes but I like the layering. Simple black and white photos and frames.

I'm not so sure about the large frame but I like the look of the two on the inside of the one large.

Again, I love the large white mats!

This one is my favorite! I love the blocks. So kid friendly. I am thinking this is my next project- with a good coating of Mod Podge.  I know the boys would love playing with these.

What have found in photo displaying that is helpful?

Lions and Tigers and Bears! Oh my!

While the lion was sleeping, the one shot I got of the tiger didn't turn out and the bears were too far away there was still plenty to see. It is always so much fun to watch the kids see some of these animals for the fist time. So cool! But sorry, no pictures to show their excitement. I know- GO ME! Here is just a sampling of what I did capture.

Flamingos (duh!)

The kids from church on the Komodo Dragon statue.

Cason getting a hands-on experience! He loved getting to pet the reptile (I forgot its name- oops).

Elephants

My favorite- The giraffes!

Gorillas
This little guy was tuckered out! I think his favorite part was the Icee :)

This was such a fun way to kick off fall... Even though it was nearly 100 degrees!
I am ready for cooler temps and the upcoming holidays. How about you?

Who's ready for FALL??!

I live in the great state of Texas and it has been H-O-T hot! The high temps have been well over 100degrees. Today, I got in my car and the temp popped up at a cool 68! Woot Hoot! Sweater weather! What a welcome sight!
So, with fall on its way I thought I'd show you what is going on around here to get ready.
First up, fall decor is making its appearance.

Jamey and Cason love going to football game. Especially since there is popcorn, Sprite, and ring suckers involved!

Finally, the kids are able to go outside to play. And they love it!

We are so glad cooler weather is upon us. Now, do we switch out the wardrobe or not?? That is the question.

All Hallow's Eve

Halloween has been one of my favorite holidays ever since I can remember. As I was flipping through my October Creating Keepsakes, I came across this article intro spread. AWESOME! I knew instantly that I could recreate this. So I gathered my Halloween supplies and got to cranking! My original plan was to do a tutorial on this...Well, it was a good idea, but it didn't happen :( But, hey! You still get beginning and ending shots!

Pretty cool, huh?? I L-O-V-E it! The hubby wasn't as excited about it as I was... What does he know? ha  ha
I hope you  getting crafty, too!

Please Vote!

A dear friend of mine has been nominated for College Entrepreneur of the Year! Gabrielle is an amazing, bright, young lady doing some amazing things. She is a biomedical engineering student at Arizona State University. I have known Gabrielle since birth and I am so extremely proud of her and this huge accomplishment. Her company is G3Box. By converting steel shipping containers into maternity clinics, they are giving healthcare to women that might not have it otherwise.  I hope that you will read her story and vote!

This is their first container they are working on.
Good luck, Gabrielle! We are so proud of you!

Pinspiration

Here goes for Round 2 of Pinspiration.
I made this cute little booger for Jamey's birthday. A cute little reminder for him to set on his desk at work to remind him how much he is loved.

Jamey's birthday "card"

Paint your childs (or yours) hand and 'stamp' it on plain cardstock. Cut it out.
Next cut strips of solid cardstock. Mine are about 1.5 in by 12 in. I used 2 and a half strip. Zig zag fold them and glue together. You can make this as long as you'd like.

Add your sentiment with stickers and markers. Use what you have on hand! Ha! Sorry- no pun intended :)
Attach your hands. I placed mine so the bottom of the sentiment helped it stand up.
TADA! Isn't it cute??!
Jamey L-O-V-E-D it. (Sorry, but camera troubles. No picture of him opening it :(  )

Pinspiration

Come to find out our family has an addiction! We all  can't quit pinning! That's right. Pintrest has sucked my family in. We simply can't stop :)  (You can find me here.) All of this pinning has sparked my creativity. And I am loving it. This brings us to today's post~ Pinspiration!!! I have seen a few frames like this and love how they look. Of course, my wheels started spinning. I remembered I had this frame from my grandmother, Cooter,  just waiting to be used. Here is the tutorial on what I did.

Repurposed Frame

Gather supplies: Frame, twine, clothes pins and stapler
Measure twine across the frame. Just make sure to leave plenty to loop around in the end.
Once you are satisfied with where the twine is, staple it down. I made a loop so the twine could not pull through if too much weight was placed on it.
Since my clothes pins were brand new, I decided to give them a bit of age. I just used a sponge and some brown ink. It is a bit hard to tell  the difference but in real life it is way noticable!
Lastly, find some favorite photos and pin them up!
I decided to hang this in our bedroom... only because there was a nail already in the wal! :)
I love how it looks although, I think I am going to reprint my pictures in a smaller size.
Not only do I get reminded of the fun times in the photos, but I think of Cooter also. LOVE IT!
